London 'Money Counts' Training

Are you a London-based volunteer supporting people struggling with money worries?

Join IFAN and local partners for free online 'Money Counts' training.

Online 'Money Counts' training is being offered  to volunteers and other frontline teams working in  14 London boroughs: Kingston upon Thames, Brent, Croydon, Enfield, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Lambeth, Lewisham, Merton, Newham, Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Wandsworth and Westminster.

The sessions are linked to the 'Worrying About Money?' leaflets and their alternative versions co-produced in each of these areas. These resources are designed to help people facing money worries or in financial crisis, and support teams, to identify cash first options and local advice and support to maximise income.

'Money Counts' training will provide an introduction to the leaflet's design and how the resource can be used to help people you support. Learning objectives include being able:

  • to identify someone who might have money worries

  • to know which financial advice options are available locally and nationally

  • to feel confident to support people struggling to afford food navigate their way to local cash first advice and support

  • to use the local 'Worrying About Money?' leaflet well and with confidence

The aim of IFAN's collaborative cash first referral leaflet project is to reduce the need for charitable food aid by helping people find local advice and support to maximise income and claim all entitlements.  As the cost-of-living crisis exacerbates pre-existing poverty across London, it's vital that a cash first approach to food insecurity including access to local advice services is prioritised.

Free hard copies of local 'Worrying About Money?' leaflets and posters will available to attendees signing up to the online sessions.

Training dates will be added below as they are confirmed, follow the link for your area to sign up for local 'Money Counts' training through Eventbrite.

Background

You can find out more about the 'Worrying About Money?' or cash first referral leaflet project here.  'Money Counts' training was originally developed by the Highland Money Counts Partnership following the co-development of the Highland ‘Worrying About Money?’ leaflet. The training has since been replicated in multiple areas across the UK where ‘Worrying About Money?’ leaflets have been co-produced. IFAN is running these sessions with thanks to funding from London Plus and the Greater London Authority.
